54Side Effects Might Include......
I am easily amused by the medication commercials. Maybe I am just a simple guy, but those are the best entertainment on television as far as I am concerned. And not just the ads for the anti-depressant meds, but the other hundreds of meds that treat just about every malady that has arisen the last 20 to 30 years.
I love it how they always have this sort of new millenium music playing as the afflicted person gleefully goes about their day. The folks watching probably think that "hey, this person seems to be functioning o.k. and the reason is this medication! I gotta get my doctor to put me on that stuff right away".
The scenario always seems to show a man or a woman, working about in their garden or puttering around the yard in clean clothes and big smiles while the rest of their family helps them with big smiles and playful actions, such as throwing water at someone. Such fun!
Then there are always the folks that own their own buisness and because of this medication they are able to cheerfully go about buisness as usual, although with one of the side effects being anal leakage, they might want to reconsider wearing white pants.
These ads show the before and after, they never seem to show the real stuff, like the in between, when the poor soul is suffering from all the side effects from the side effects, which may or may not include vomiting, headaches, chest pain, severe diarrea, increased dreaming ( dreams that can be likened to a Stephen King novel) anal leakage ( better than increased dreaming at times), and sweating. Always be sure to tell your doctor of any new side effects so that this way he/or she can write it down and bring it up to the control group and tell em, " hey guess what guys? I actually have a patient that has inadvertently broken out into song due to this drug!
Most of my personal experience with meds has been up and down. Mostly down, because I do not agree with their diagnosis, and they can not seem to agree either. It's a crap shoot, guess we all know that going in. I do not expect my doctor to have any answers, they are the ones that just prescribe the stuff and see what happens. At this point in time, I have come to the conclusion that the side effects by far out weigh what I am taking the medication for to begin with. It can get to be very easy to be on several meds at once as the doctor prescribes more medication to counteract the side effects. These meds can cause the problem that the medication was designed to treat. Sort of like being given the antidote, where they prescribe the flu as the antidote forthe flu.
I have come to the conclusion that most of my experiences are pretty amusing. Scary, but amusing. After trying a new med recently, I always gain a new perspective because sometimes the meds bring out the worst in me, or the best, however you wanna call it!
Thanx for lettin me share
